About Magpie & Hook
Established in 2022, Magpie & Hook is a little haberdashery, yarn shop and craft studio in the heart of Bideford, North Devon. Packed with gorgeous yarns, fabrics, craft kits & accessories with a fun and varied workshop programme - all curated and run by Megan & Tamsin with help from Ruby the springer spaniel!
We are both lovers of all things crafty and wanted to provide fun and affordable workshops for all levels of crafters.
The majority of our group workshops are kept small, and most workshops are project based this means you always go home with a finished item made by you! All of our workshops and parties include tea and coffee, and we always have plenty of cake on offer at every single event.
You will leave the workshop with a new skill under your belt and a beautiful item created by you. Workshops are conveniently located in. Most classes are suitable for complete beginners and limited to four to six people only per class so book early to avoid disappointment.
Each workshop is taught by an expert in their craft. We’re lucky enough to work with award winning jewellers, talented knitters and crocheters, seamstresses, mixed media artists and many more.
As the workshops have become more popular, we have extended them to parties and are now happy to host hen parties, baby showers, corporate events and afternoon tea birthday parties for friends that want to get together and learn to craft in a lovely, crafty setting in North Devon.
The Craft Bank
We know it’s a challenging time for everyone at the moment as the cost of living increases.
With little left in the budget for anything other than essentials, we know that for lots of people crafting isn't possible right now - but we also know that crafting has been shown to ease anxiety, bolster mood and reduce stress.The craft bank at Magpie & Hook is aimed at giving people access to craft materials.
We are grateful for your craft donations – yarn, needles, hooks, fabrics, etc. which can be dropped off at the shop during opening hours or collected by arrangement.
The Craft Bank is outside Magpie & Hook during opening hours, 6 days a week. Take what you need. Give what you can.

The Left Hookery
Magpie & Hook are very happy to be home to The Left Hookery.
Tamsin is the face behind The Left Hookery. She’s always loved crafting and creating beautiful things but when she discovered crochet she knew she’d found her perfect match!
The Left Hookery baskets, bags, patterns and kits plus the Bobbiny yarn she uses are all available in the shop and the online store.
