An introduction to Magpie & Hook
Hello and welcome to Magpie & Hook, the home of super squishy yarns and fabulous fabrics. Magpie & Hook is the brainchild of Megan & Tamsin. Both had shops at the Bideford Pannier Market complex in Butcher's Row - The Magpie's Nest and The Left Hookery, but worked so well together that they decided to bite the bullet and combine forces to create Magpie & Hook - Megan being the magpie and Tamsin the hook.
Doors to the new shop opened in January 2022 in central Bideford, situated in Mill Street, opposite the Co-op. It's easy to find thanks to our rather oversized sign (which we strongly suspect could be read from space!).
Inside the shop you will find a well curated collection of yarns, fabrics and haberdashery - including vintage haberdashery.
About Tamsin
Tamsin in the resident knitting and crochet expert and has designed many contemporary chunky crochet baskets and bags - the patterns and kits are all available in store and online.
About Megan
Megan's passion lies in the sewing and embroidery. She loves fabrics and buttons best of all. Megan also has a huge collection of vintage fabrics and haberdashery - so if you need to find the perfect fastening for that vintage find, you know where to come!
Both Megan & Tamsin teach in the shop, and Megan also hosts classes with outside tutors in her workshop on the top floor. Workshops are many and varied and include (to name but a few) silver smithing, dressmaking, macrame, embroidery, printing, crochet and knitting.
Making shopping fun!
We aim to make shopping with us a fun, relaxed experience in our light and bright shop. Our stock lines are steadily increasing and we prefer a quality over quantity approach on the shop floor, but we are more than happy to order in items for our customers and can offer discounts on full bolts/reels/packets of supplies. We love what we do and our customers are key to our success so we are always happy to help find suitable materials and supplies for the perfect project.
